Steven needed an update to his band’s website.  The current version was built completely in Flash and was not able to be updated easily.  Steve wanted a site he could update, showcase his music, and provide a listing for upcomming shows.

I chose WordPress for its ability to be easily updated.  Using the pages feature gave Steve the ability to create new content on the fly, that would be accessible from the navigation bar.  I modified a theme to better suit the needs of the site.  I also implemented the WP-Audio and Gigs Calendar plugins to provide an easy way to add new shows and the ability to easily link audio.

Demo Site

TweetView was a personal project. I wanted a page where I could read twitter in chronological order, and be able to read tweets that happened since I last checked.

I created a series of scripts that would pull down tweets on an hourly basis, and insert them into a table. Since users change their avatars on a regular basis, I checked to see if the user was in my table and update the link to their avatar. I added links to the actual twitter status page, clicking on the user’s name would allow to send a direct message, and a link to mark the messages read. I also set up another cron job to purge the tweets table of read tweets. I didn’t want to be a backup of twitter’s database.

I have since curbed my twitter obsession, so this project is no longer live. The demo page does not get updated.

Kate creates beautiful jewelry, and wanted a site to showcase and sell that jewelry. She also wanted to use the site to keep track of her inventory.

I worked with a designer to create a template that Kate was happy with. I then created an administration backend, allowing Kate to create new pieces, add images to those pieces, create sets, and archive sold pieces. For the frontend, I created menu navigation based on the categories generated, set up pagination for categories larger than twelve pieces, and added the lytebox plugin to show a larger view of the pieces.
